The Story behind the Mantra: The Sun

Mantra Sunshine PolaroidThis mantra is a very personal one to me. It is one of the 7 mantras I try to live my life by.

When I was younger, I simply didn’t understand the phrase, ‘positive thinking’. I thought it meant that, if you imagined everything in life was always wonderful, then nothing bad would ever happen. If you thought enough positive thoughts, you could stop bad things from happening.

But they still happened! No amount of positive thinking can stop illness, death, poverty, starvation, or all the other unhappy things in life.

Only as I got older did I realise what the phrase really means. It means that, in the face of whatever happens in life, you yourself can remain positive. You are in control of your reactions, your behaviours, and your beliefs. You can keep a positive and calm and happy outlook on life, no matter what is happening around you.

It doesn’t stop these things from happening, but it means you are not controlled by them, and you can take life as it comes: your mood, outlook and response are not determined by external events.

So, you can make a positive choice to be the sunshine in your own life, and in other people’s lives. You can bring happiness, positivity and joy to people, no matter what they are going through, staying sunny and bright and upbeat.

We decided a sun was, of course, the best design to represent this – so choose the sun necklace, to encourage yourself to ‘fill the world with sunshine every day’.
