We are continuing into our third year of ‘My Best Self’, a campaign to encourage all of us to step up and be the best version of ourselves.
Last year, we talked to inspiring women about their ‘mantra for life’, and found out more about what motivates them.
I personally have always found that having a mantra to say to yourself, when you are feeling down or demotivated, works wonders. It gives you a renewed sense of purpose and focus, and helps give you a reason for doing something.
For example, if you are facing something difficult that you really don’t want to do, saying to yourself, ‘If it doesn’t challenge me, it doesn’t change me’ reminds you that it is good to tackle hard things in your life, or you will never grow and learn. If everything in life were easy, you would coast along on auto-pilot, never really understanding what you are truly capable of.
This year, we are continuing our campaign to become better versions of ourselves, by choosing a different mantra each month, to see what we can learn from it.
January kicks off with the mantra from our Initial necklaces:
‘In a world where you can be anything, be yourself’.
This is a perfect message for your daughter or a young person setting out in life – perhaps heading off to university, or starting her first job. But it is also a defining mantra for all of us, throughout our lives.
Today, there is so much choice available to many of us. We can travel, change jobs, change continents; we can participate in so many activities and adventures; we can see instantly what our friends are doing, on social media; and see what people we have never met are doing – to get ideas and inspiration and insight.
But the problem with all these opportunities and endless choices is that we can forget who we really are, and what we want. We can get sucked into believing we should do what everyone else is doing, and want what everyone else wants.
For me, the simple message to ‘be yourself’ is a powerful reminder that we are each individuals, with our own thoughts, dreams, plans and beliefs. We don’t need people to think the same as us, or to want to do the same as us – we can all be unique and different in our desires.
We’d love you to share with us ways in which you are truly being yourself. There is no harm in being inspired by someone else – but then take that inspiration and make it your own. What are you doing, to dream your own dreams, to live your own life, and to be boldly and unapologetically you?
Share your stories with us on our social channels - Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
And this month, to celebrate each of us being ourselves, we have 15% off all our Initial Necklaces, each A-Z letter coming with the mantra, ‘In a world where you can be anything, be yourself’. Wear one yourself, or gift a friend.
And stay with us over the year, as we discuss a different mantra each month, to encourage us all to step up to be our best selves.
