Solihull
is the site of a new Breast Cancer Haven centre, which opened in October last
year. We were lucky enough today to attend a special preview of their new
gardens.
As
well as the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine we had the chance to be one of
the first to view the gardens, that have been beautifully landscaped due to a
very generous donation from the Estee Lauder Foundation. Anna Bartle, VP of
Corporate Affairs at Estee Lauder, was one of the special guests at the garden
preview today.
The Evelyn H. Lauder garden is intended as a space
for relaxation and healing for visitors to the centre, offering space for yoga
and meditation classes, relaxation and outdoor seating. In addition, fresh
produce for the centre’s kitchen will be grown in raised beds in the garden.
The
gardens were designed by Ruth Gwynn, who won Gold and Best in Show for her
garden at RHS Malvern recently; and created with many generous donations and
the help of Rupert Keys, from Keyscape Landscape Design. Both designers
were on hand to talk guests through the centre’s newest treatment space.
The
event was rounded off by the unveiling of a special sculpture of the Breast Cancer Haven logo, the finishing
touch, amongst the peonies, roses, irises and jasmine.
